Welcome to IndieEd.org, the home of Boulder’s independent educators. We are thrilled to present our vision for a more integrated and cooperative community of private educators, therapists, and psychologists. Our collective experience suggests strongly that a rising tide lifts all boats, that the wisdom of the individual professional can and will enrich the group if only a forum to meet is provided. We endeavor to provide this forum in the form of a monthly meeting at which a fellow professional will present some aspect of their work to the group. A lengthy and lively group discussion will follow. Consistent professional development and increased familiarity among local professionals will lead to an increase in the quality of client services. Of all the potential beneficiaries of such a group, the children of the Boulder area will undoubtedly benefit most.
Furthermore, IndieEd is proud to present itself as a referral source for families in need of assistance. We hope that a great number of local professionals of various stripes will be interested in becoming IndieEd Members who will be featured on our website in the “Members” section. Our mission is to provide the community with quality referrals who fit the precise needs of those seeking help.
Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, at The Friends’ Meetinghouse at 1825 Upland Avenue in Boulder. Our first speaker will be Kathy Sherman, Director of Hillside School and an IndieEd founding member. She will be presenting on the topic of dyslexia. If you are a local educator, psychologist, or therapist, you are more than welcome to attend and participate in the discussion.
We cannot wait to begin this exciting new journey together. Local kids need us, and we need each other to be at our best.
